Trimac trials petroleum trailer
North American tank trailer operator Trimac Transportation says that in 2012 it is beginning a 12-month trial of a new trailer type for hauling petroleum. The unit is a Super B trailer specially designed by and on loan from US manufacturer Polar Tank Trailer. Trimac says that the trailer could offer weight distribution and payload advantages, while adhering to the weight guidelines and dimensional laws of Canada, where Trimac is headquartered.
“During the trial, the trailer will be placed into a retail petroleum application where it will be subjected to tighter turning radiuses to maximise stress on the sub-frame and barrel,” says Trimac. “At the end of 12 months, if the newly designed trailer has performed well, Trimac will have the option to take ownership of the trailer, and, with Polar’s support, continue evaluating its durability over multiple years.”
