Trainers in motion
CONFERENCE Europe’s trainers are promised an informative get-together as DGTA lays plans for its first regional event next year
The Dangerous Goods Trainers Association (DGTA) is planning to hold its first European event in Copenhagen in April 2013. The event will be a mixture of formal conference sessions, informal discussions in roundtable format, training sessions and a small exhibition area.
So far, DGTA has held its meetings alongside existing events in North America. However, as there is no Europe-wide equivalent, it is having to build this event from scratch. DGTA chairman Leif Soderman has already been in discussions with likely speakers, and it is hoped that some senior regulators from around Europe will be on hand to bring delegates up to speed with the latest regulatory changes. These will enter force under ADR and RID in July 2013, so the timing is appropriate.
In addition, DGTA is taking a leaf out of Labelmaster’s book by bringing dangerous goods trainers together to talk about their common problems in a less formal setting. Round-table discussions will also feature problem-solving exercises to help delegates expand their understanding of how information is retained by students and, therefore, how best to teach.
DGTA is currently planning to hold the event from April 24 to 26, 2013 at the Scandic Copenhagen, where an attractive room rate has been secured. The hotel is currently being renovated and should be in fine condition by the time the conference rolls around.
HCB will keep readers informed of this important event, including any changes to the date or programme, and will be in attendance to report on discussions. The Bulletin’s publisher, Peter Mackay, who is past chair of DGTA, will be chairing the main conference sessions.
More details will available in the third quarter of this year on the Association’s website.
