Stealthgas builds and charters

The Vafias group of companies last month named the last two newbuildings in a series of 10 gas carriers ordered from the Kanrei shipyard in Japan. Both are 7,500 m3 LPG/VCM carriers; the first, Gas Husky, has been delivered and has started on a long-term charter with a Middle Eastern state company, the second – Gas Esco – is due for delivery in May and is so far unfixed.
The Vafias group now has 62 ships in all, including 38 gas carriers operated by Stealthgas, 22 product and crude tankers and two capesize bulk carriers. It reckons to be the third largest shipping group in Greece, measured by the number of vessels it owns.
