SIGTTO addresses LNG bunkering standards

SIGTTO has formed the Natural Gas Marine Fuel Safety Advisory Group as a cross-industry platform to advise on the design, operation and maintenance of LNG marine fuel systems. The Group’s remit covers the storage of LNG, bunker vessel design and operation, LNG transfer operations and shipboard containment and handling. It will leverage the expertise of existing LNG specialists with the aim of maintaining the safety record of the LNG sector to date.

The Group held its first meeting in London earlier this month and will now be examining current proposals, operational procedures and training practices in projects proposing to use LNG as a bunker fuel.
