OL&T widens scope

US-headquartered Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corporation (OL&T), a global logistics and transport service provider for the chemical and process industries, has seen its ongoing service agreement with global biocides producer Arch Chemicals expanded. While OL&T will continue to provide managed logistics services for Arch in the US for all modes of commercial transport, its remit will now also cover the whole of Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). “We have worked closely with Arch Chemicals in supporting its North American initiatives for the past six years. We are very pleased to have this expanded relationship and a continuation of our joint drive for excellence across all segments of the logistics supply chain,” says OL&T president and CEO Robert Shellman.

“During our multi-year relationship with OL&T,” explains Robert J Stadalius, Arch’s senior vice-president of operational excellence, “Arch Chemicals has benefitted from the integrated transport supply chain operations and the technology expertise OL&T brings to the table. The OL&T team is aligned with us in achieving our tactical and strategic goals in North America. We are looking forward to achieving the same results across our global platform.”

“Odyssey Logistics & Technology,” says James Pearson, director and manager of logistics for Arch in Europe, “provides transportation supply chain solutions with a focus on safety in all modes for the diverse and complex materials manufactured by Arch Chemicals. Further, OL&T’s technology platform will interface seamlessly with ours by integrating multiple ERP systems, including our SAP. Service will span across all modes with total transparency to service and costs.”

Meanwhile, OL&T has also expanded the scope of its SAS 70 Type II certification to include the EMEA in addition to North America. SAS70 is a widely recognised and highly stringent auditing standard for service organisations developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, with this particular audit having been conducted by independent audit firm BDO Seidman. “OL&T’s service model requires managing high volumes of transactions that encompass a wide range of data-dependent, freightrelated activity and the SAS 70 certification demonstrates our company’s commitment to rigorous controls to deliver a fully secure, reliable information technology environment,” says OL&T executive vice-president and CFO Cosmo Alberico. “What’s more, expanding SAS 70 scope to include EMEA enhances OL&T’s ability to deliver best-in-class transportation management and logistics services to our global customers,” he adds.

“Having the same systems and processes in the Americas aided us in our success with becoming SAS 70 certified here in Europe,” says Toine Matthijssen, managing director of OL&T Europe. “The advantages of operating from one global technology platform not only had significant benefits to our global customer base, but it also allowed for an efficient audit.”

“The controls also depict an adequate segregation of duties to prevent one individual or employee group from having exclusive control over transactions. The team at Odyssey Logistics & Technology is consistently maintaining controls that guard our customers’ critical data and hosted infrastructure,” Alberico continues.

OL&T and its subsidiaries deliver a comprehensive portfolio of managed logistics and third-party services to midsize and large chemical and process industry clients around the world. A key element of its service offering is the Odyssey Global Logistics Platform technology infrastructure, which features a proprietary net-native transport management system. With more than 30 per cent average annual revenue growth over the past five years, OL&T moves products with a combined value of more than $42bn between 185,000 origins and destinations and 220 ports worldwide.
