National Adhesives switches to fibre
Henkel-owned National Adhesives has announced that it has stopped using conventional steel drums for its Pur-Fect Lok™ line of panel laminating adhesives in favour of a new fibre alternative, the Fibrecycle™ KEG (Keep Earth Green) Packaging Solution. As well as enabling customers to recycle 100 per cent of their used drums and so reduce their waste streams, the new system can also receive up to 15 per cent more product per unit, reducing handling and transport costs while simultaneously optimising storage.
Moreover, the company asserts, as well as generating positive cash flow from the recycling of used units these new drums can also lower energy costs as their fibre construction insulates the heated adhesive inside. On top of this, the Fibrecycle KEG can also help create a safer working environment as theses new fibre drums, unlike conventional steel designs, do not conduct heat outwards thus reducing the risk of employees suffering contact burns.
