Mauser buys US packaging producer

Mauser Group has acquired US packaging company Varicon Solutions. Varicon’s plastics packaging unit, which produces tighthead and open-head drums from virgin and post-consumer HDPE, will become part of Mauser, while Varicon’s reconditioning activities will come under Mauser’s National Container Group (NCG) subsidiary. Varicon has locations in Greenville, SC and Cleveland, OH, but Mauser says that its activities will be transferred to existing Mauser/NCG facilities.

“This acquisition is another milestone supporting our worldwide growth strategy and enables us to meet the increasing requirements for plastic packaging made out of PCR, including all related services in the south-eastern US,” says Jeff Simmonds, SBU manager, North America, for Mauser Group.
