Mauser adds to IBC capacity
Mauser has recently brought onstream new intermediate bulk container (IBC) production capacity in the Netherlands and the US. At its Oosterhout facility in the Netherlands, the new line will produce Mauser’s complete range of SM IBCs, which includes the SM EX model for use in EX zones and the SM LP model that boasts specific light-protection capabilities.
“We see an increasing demand for IBC solutions in the region,” says SBU manager Europe Dr Jürgen Scherer. “By opening a new IBC line, we are able to faster respond to customers’ needs, which is crucial to support supply chain processes in an optimal way. Furthermore, this enables Mauser and our customers to reduce environmental impact due to the transport of empty packaging. We are happy to provide companies in the Netherlands with high quality IBCs for hazardous and sensitive filling goods.”
Meanwhile, an additional blow moulding machine has been installed at the Houston facility in Texas, increasing capacity for 275-gallon IBCs and bottles and allowing Mauser to supply 330-gal IBCs to the south-west US, including its NCG facility in Houston. As with the Dutch expansion, the investment will allow it to improve service levels to its customers in the region. The new machine will increase plant capacity by 70 per cent in the short term and will be followed shortly by additional cage manufacturing resources at the site.
