Lloyd's Register puts Odfjell Rotterdam under "special surveillance"

A team from Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) will conduct a ‘special surveillance’ audit of Odfjell Terminals (Rotterdam) BV (OTR), starting Tuesday, August 7.

OTR has been certified by LRQA with the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications, the international management system standards for quality and the environment.

The 100-hour audit will “review and investigate new issues” that may affect the terminal’s management systems and certification.

“Any action taken as a result of special surveillance is based on the evidence from the audit and can range from continued certification or a requirement for corrective action to suspension and withdrawal of certification,” Lloyd’s Register spokesmen Russell Barling told the Bulletin, but was not at liberty to discuss the audit at OTR specifically.

The inspection was initiated by the certification firm, prompted by OTR’s announcement on July 27 that it would temporarily suspend operations at its plant.
