Kirby reports banner year

Kirby Corporation, the largest tank barge operator in the US, reports marine transport revenues for the 2011 fourth quarter of $335.1m, a 44% increase compared fourth quarter 2011. The company’s marine transport revenues for the full year of 2011 were $1.195bn, compared to $915m for the full year 2010.

“Our record fourth quarter results were a reflection of continued favourable US petrochemical production levels and a continued strong export market, all leading to high inland tank barge utilisation levels and favourable term and spot contract pricing,” says Kirby.
