Heil changes hands

Private equity firm American Industrial Partners has acquired global tank trailer manufacturer Heil Trailer International from Heil’s former parent company Dover Corporation for an undisclosed price. With the transaction, Heil appointed Randall Swift as its chief executive. Prior to joining Heil, Swift was chief executive of specialty vehicle manufacturer Allied Specialty Vehicles (ASV). ASV is a portfolio company of American Industrial Partners. In addition, Bob Foster has re-joined Heil Trailer as its chairman of the board. Foster was president of Heil for 15 years prior to his retirement in 2006.

“Heil Trailer is one of the longstanding leaders in the marketplace due, in large part, to the talents of its people,” says Swift. “I look forward to working with each of them to grow and enhance Heil Trailer’s leadership position.”
