Evergas newbuilds start to arrive

Evergas has taken delivery of the first of up to 18 LPG tankers building at Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering. JS Caesar is one of six 5,000 m3 fully pressurised tankers due to enter the fleet this year. All will be commercially managed by GasChem and technically managed by Hartmann Schiffahrts. The other newbuildings will be 12,000 m3 ethylene tankers. Brokers report that, in preparation for those deliveries, Evergas has sold its 10,500 m3, 1990-built ethylene tanker Sigloo Endurance.

The new tanker has already been chartered to a major cargo owner for long-term employment. Evergas and Hartmann put a great emphasis on safety and environmental protection in the design of the new series, which Evergas says is commending the tankers to major charterers. "JS Caesar is the first in a series of next generation gas carriers where safety, environmental concern and efficiency has been the paramount target through its development phase, involving close interaction with oil majors," says Martin Ackermann, CEO of Evergas.
