Oliver Grüters has been elected president of the European Flexible Intermediate Bulk Container Association (EFIBCA). He succeeds Dr Amir Samadijavan, who successfully set up EFIBCA as a global organisation and attracted many new members. Grüters has worked in the big bag industry for more than 15 years, becoming general manager of Boxon GmbH in 2001 before taking over the Boxon Bulk Global division at the company's Swedish headquarters in 2009. Since 2006 he has been the chairman of the FIBC sector group at Industrievereinigung Kunststoffverpackungen (IK), the German Plastics Packaging and Films Association. He is also a member of the IK's executive board and in 2008 joined the executive board of the German Association of Plastic Convertors (GKV).

"In his presidency, Oliver Grüters will continue the globalisation process started by his predecessor," EFIBCA says. He also intends to enhance the EFIBCA information service while further developing the Association into "a global competence centre for technical and quality-related matters regarding FIBCs."
