Discharger with vibrator splits bottoms

Flexicon (Europe) has unleashed a new discharger for flat-bottomed, single-trip flexible intermediate bulk containers (FIBCs). The system, the company says, incorporates a receiving hopper with a centrally mounted, pyramid-shaped cutter that has been “designed to make the process of raw material discharge quick, simple and cost-effective”.

Using either a fork lift or a cruciform attached to an electric hoist, an operator positions the filled FIBC onto the discharge frame immediately above the pyramid-shaped cutter. As the big bag is lowered to sit on a dust-confining rubber membrane, a fourbladed cutter splits the centre of its bottom, enabling material to be gravity fed into the hopper below via a 35 mm square mesh that filters any foreign objects. Meanwhile, a sidemounted access door in the hopper facilitates the removal of any retained debris from the mesh. In addition, a side-mounted plenum enables the removal of dust to a designated collection point while a vibrator and lowlevel sensor ensure an uninterrupted flow of material.
