Danish chemship merger gets go-ahead

United Shipping & Trading Co A/S has agreed to merge its Uni Tankers chemical tanker operations with those of fellow Danish shipowner Erria A/S, with UTSC as the majority shareholder. The combined fleet will have 16 chemical and product tankers ranging in size from 4,000 dwt to 30,000 dwt. The plans are expected to be finalised next month.
Erria will continue to operate separately as a technical manager and consultant, and has also announced a new agreement with National Shipping SA of Argentina to manage a chemical tanker newbuilding project.
