Brenntag buys shale service business

Brenntag has acquired the Treat-Em-Rite (TER) Corporation, a Texas-based chemical distributor serving the needs of the local oil and gas industry.  "The acquisition of TER Corporation is a great strategic fit, especially from a geographic point of view," says William Fidler, member of the Management Board and CEO of Brenntag North America. "The company is located in the Eagle Ford Shale, one of the fastest growing natural gas shale areas in the US. This location will increase our future growth potential in this strategic business segment."

TER reported sales of some $11.2m in 2011.
