Bertschi results hit by demand and Euro crisis

Bertschi AG has reported annual revenues of SFr 630m ($675m) for 2011, down slightly on the 2010 figure. Hans-Jörg Bertschi, managing director and president of Bertschi AG, reports that transport demand fell by more than 10% in the last quarter of 2011 compared to year earlier levels. The company’s results for the year were also adversely affected by the ongoing Euro crisis and the consequent strength of the Swiss franc, in which Bertschi reports its figures.

Despite the downturn the company has continued to invest, putting a new container workshop into use in eastern Germany, adding a second gantry crane at the Duisburg intermodal terminal and starting work on new offices at its Dürrenäsch headquarters.
