Bemis buys Shield Pack

US-based Bemis has acquired the common stock of Shield Pack, a Louisiana manufacturer of high barrier liners for bulk container packagings. Shield Pack commands annual net sales of approximately $25m. “This acquisition expands our reach into new market applications for bulk liquids and other products that require barrier packaging,” says Bemis president and CEO Henry Theisen. “Shield Pack’s expertise in moisture and oxygen barrier technology complements our existing technological capabilities and our focus on high barrier packaging solutions.”

Founded in 1858, Bemis today primarily produces flexible packagings and pressure-sensitive materials for the food, consumer and healthcare sectors. Headquartered in Neenah, Wisconsin, it employs a worldwide staff of more than 20,000 and finished 2010 with net sales worth $4.8bn.
