Barloworld grows in hazmat
South Africa-headquartered logistics company Barloworld Logistics has acquired road tanker operator Ecosse Tankers, which is also based in South Africa. Barloworld says that the acquisition is in line with the company’s strategy to grow its services and expand expertise in the chemical, fuels and hazardous goods sectors.
“Ecosse Tankers has thoroughly succeeded in a challenging industry environment,” says Steve Ford, CEO of Barloworld. “We look forward to leveraging existing expertise as well as an ample client base in making a mark in the chemical, fuels and hazardous goods industries.” Former Ecosse owners, Dugal Sharp and Donald Mackenzie, say: “Our new role within the Barloworld Logistics structure is that of assisting initial operational integration and then to drive the growth strategy in the chemical transportation sector using current customer relationships and know-how.”
