US-based Aceto has announced second-quarter net income of $4.6m compared to the $1.2m loss reported this time last year. Over the same period net sales increased 29.2 per cent from $85.7m to $110.7m. In terms of the company's divisional performance, its Specialty Chemicals segment saw its sales rise by 9.6 per cent while those for Agricultural Protection Products and Health Sciences increased by 23.7 per cent and 44 per cent, respectively. "During the quarter, we experienced sales growth across all of our business segments," says chairman and CEO Albert Eilender. "However, we have always maintained that our business is difficult to project on a quarter-to-quarter basis and in this quarter some of the overall increase in sales can be attributed to earlier than anticipated orders of products across our business segments."
